Today we journeyed to Hancock Shaker Village in search of inspiration for our plays, where we met farm animals, dressed up like Shaker children, “milked a cow,” wove on a loom and pretended to be Shaker schoolchildren. We had such a good time with all the animals, especially the chickens, and when we came back we were tired but excited to talk about our plays. KidsAct! spent the rest of the afternoon thinking about setting and deciding whether to set their play on the farm or in a garden, and then they worked on creating scenes with characters based in commedia dell’arte. TeensAct! is working on a play about being in cages and very quickly put together a rough draft of a dynamic opening scene. We cannot wait to see the direction these plays take!
