It’s our first day of camp!
We had a fantastic first day of TeensAct! We’re so happy to be back and making theatre, singing songs, and doing improv together at beautiful Miss Hall’s School.
We started out our day with warm-ups led by Chynna, followed by some getting to know you games and icebreakers led by Jane and Sam! We also created our group agreement to decide how we want to work together over the next three weeks to create our play.
For Music with Gaylan, we learned Somewhere Over the Rainbow!
After lunch and some free play time, we had an improv workshop with Sam, and we devised some short scenes with Jane.
For this first week, we’ll be experimenting with a bunch of different forms of theatre making! We’ll be diving into some Commedia techniques with Sam, long-form improv with Jane, and clowning and pantomime.
We’re excited to have three weeks with your teens instead of our usual two- there is so much that we can do with time, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what creative and silly work comes out of TeensAct! this year.
Some announcements for the coming week:
- This Wednesday, June 30th, we will have WACKY WEDNESDAY! We’d like to invite all of our campers to wear their silliest, wackiest, goofiest outfit.
- We will have a Talent Show on Friday! Please help your teen start thinking about what talent they’d like to bring in to share.
- These blogposts will be released twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays.
- Social media posts will be going up on Fridays. Be sure to follow our Instagram and our Facebook to see pictures of your teens!
- Don’t forget to open emails that come from Barrington Stage Company because that’s how we’re sending out our updates!
