Family Traditions Day!
Today we all brought in and talked about a tradition we each have in our families. We heard just about everything from family vacations to lighting candles for Shabbat. I think we all learned a lot about each other and each other’s families. It may also influence some of our devising! Who knows? Maybe you will see your family tradition included in one of the plays! In Music, the Kids began to learn Kids from Bye Bye Birdie, and the Teens began to work on We Are Family and some Solos! In Dance, both groups continued to work hard on the dances we started yesterday. Our devising sessions proved to be really successful as both groups now have a full scene for our plays! The Kids are working on a wedding scene and the Teens are working on a haunted house scene! We’ll see what happens next…
Can’t Nobody Tell Me Nothing!
Today was another great day! In Dance, the Kids got to choreograph their own dances to Old Town Road and the Teens started their choreography for Mamma Mia. In Music, the Kids started to learn I Won’t Grow Up from Peter Pan, and the Teens brainstormed some ideas for possible solos. We also dove head first into our devising in the afternoon building on what we started discussing yesterday. The Teens created scenes based on events that could bring families together. The Kids also created scenes based on their ideas for a good play! Tomorrow we will continue to build on what we created, and we are also going to talk about family traditions!
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!
Session 2 has officially begun with a brand new theme, Funny Families! The morning was filled with games and ice breakers as both groups got to know each other. In music class, the Kids began to learn I’ll Do Anything from Oliver! and the Teens began to learn Mamma Mia from Mamma Mia! The Teens also got to start working on some awesome harmonies! The Teens worked on Ensemble Building with Sophie which helped them all start to trust each other. The Kids got to start working on Dance with Eden. In the afternoon both groups started to think about familial relationships and family activities to help with our devising, which resulted in some pretty funny scenes. Tomorrow we will continue to build on what we started, so we’ll see what happens!
Red, White, and Blue!
Happy Red, White, and Blue Day! Today was a full day of rehearsal! Both groups set to rehearsing for almost the whole day. The Kids got to take a break and play some awesome dance games in the morning, with a pretty epic lip sync battle. The Teens Solos got a lot of work as well. We added some choreography and blocking to each song to bring them to life. At the end of the day we did a full run of both shows with Gaylan and they are really coming together. Each so also has a name, but we’re keeping them a secret for now! There is no camp tomorrow because it is the 4th of July, but make sure you check in on Friday for another update!
